An Overview of Plans for a New Lutheran University In Lae

Philosophy

Lutheran University of Papua New Guinea’s philosophy of education is based on the foundation of By Grace Alone, By Faith Alone, By Scripture Alone, the historical Creeds of the Christian Church and the historical teachings of the Lutheran Church as set forth by Martin Luther and the historical writings and interpretation of the scriptures by the early Lutheran reformers.

Lecturers

The Lectures for the Lutheran University of Papua New Guinea will be highly qualified national and international instructors. They will demonstrate care for the needs of each student enrolled at the Lutheran University. Lecturers will be providing the quality University education based on quality Teaching, Research, and Service to the community. They will promote a life time of service to PNG and the Church through the graduate’s professional and personal life. Lecturers will have advance degrees or will be working on an advanced degree. The Lutheran University has sponsored Seventeen Lecturers from Balob Teachers College to Complete a Masters Degree in Primary Education. The Lutheran University will draw on this pool of intellectual talent to teach in the Universities classrooms when the program commences.

Campus

The startup campus for the Lutheran University will be at Martin Luther Seminary. A new campus master plan calls for a Melanesian-friendly living, working, and learning environment that reflect spiritual values. The campus will be spacious, safe, clean, and well planned for a comfortable academic experience with aesthetics designed to attract and retain students, faculty and staff. The campus will be designed to establish academic integrity, unity, and quality. The Campus Master Plan will facilitate and encourage the academic and social life of the institution through the urban and built form framework.
