EDU2-4107             Inclusive Education

Inclusive Education is covered by the National Department of Education’s National Special Education Policy and Plan.  The program aims to qualify teachers to be effective educators of children with disabilities and learning difficulties in an inclusive classroom environment. This course covers intensive topics in the field of special education. 

EDU3-4105             Action Research Skills

This course will develop students the relevant skills, knowledge and attitudes about action researches. The students must have relevant competencies to pose problems, collect and analyze data and be able to explain the results and make recommendations based on the results of the data.

EDU4-4105             Systematic Nature of Language

This course will introduce and familiarize students to the linguistic situations to Papua New Guinea and other world languages. It also aims to foster in students the pride in their own languages and the diverse dialects they speak as well as having an appreciation of other Pacific languages. It is anticipated that the students will have an in-depth understanding of such languages and their affiliations, and of the complexities of situations they are likely to encounter in their classrooms.

EDU5-4203 School Experience 4 (Two weeks teaching)

The fourth year students will be engaged in this eight week Block Teaching programme. The continuous practicum program is an integral part of teacher training. Practice Teaching is a co-operative venture between the college and participating schools. The college recognizes and appreciates the wealth of experience and skills field teachers have, which can be mentored or modeled to student teachers. The practicum program is structured to allow for progression and development of competencies and skills, required of a beginning teacher. The achievement of these competencies hinges on the input, effort and commitment of school experience supervisors, class teachers and student teachers themselves. 

EDU5-4204 Professional Internships

This course is designed to provide students the opportunities to research a wide range of topics / issues related to teaching and learning and the school system in general. It aims to enable students to select analyze and evaluate current practices in staff development, teaching programs, curriculum design and development, outcomes based approach or on any teaching and learning issue of interest. As much as possible the participants would be encouraged to relate their findings with current practices in schools.
