The Morobe Province is an important transport and shipping gateway for Papua New Guinea. It also serves as a centre for social, economic, agricultural, and church activities.  The Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG Head Quarters are next to Balob Teachers College and many churches and church schools are nearby.

Lae City in the Morobe Province is the country's second largest city.  Lae is a growing city and is densely populated with over 90,000 people.  Lae is the administrative, political and business Capital of the Morobe Province.  There is a major seaport centre in the city through which much of the country’s cargo is shipped. Lae has a strong industrial base related to seaport activity.

Students from the highlands and the islands of Papua New Guinea will find Lae to be very accessible with affordable transport options.
